Two Dead after Being Pulled from Longview Pool
Posted/updated on: June 30, 2016 at 4:34 pmLONGVIEW — Longview Fire Marshal Johnny Zackary says a woman and a girl are dead after being pulled from a swimming pool at a Longview house. According to KETK, officials say upon rescuers’ arrival, both victims had gone into cardiac arrest. They were taken to the hospital in critical condition. Both were pronounced dead at the hospital. Zackary said rescuers were dispatched around 1:50 p.m. Wednesday to the call on Coleman Drive near the Paul Street intersection. Crews arrived shortly after.
Zackary said there were at least one other adult and other children at the house, but he did not know where everyone was at the time of the drowning. “Two entered the pool and ended up drowning,” he said. The adult jumped into the pool to try and save the child. Foul play is not suspected at this time. Both of the victims were at another person’s residence. The Longview Fire Department is still investigating the incident. They urge you to make sure you know how to swim if you are getting in water. Also, they remind people to wear life jackets appropriately.
