manwbabyTYLER — Tyler Police continue to ask for the public’s help in locating a possibly unresponsive infant. Officials said they received a 911 call Friday night from a business on south Vine stating that a black male holding an infant had run up to the tire shop and asked for help. The man then ran away with the infant knowing that police had been called. The caller stated that the man was acting strangely and that the infant’s eyes were rolled back. Officers were unable to locate the man or the baby. Just after midnight Saturday, Tyler Police were contacted by a female who stated that she had just made contact with a man in the area of Second and Lyons Street. Her description of the man matched who authorities were searching for.

The woman also said he had an infant wrapped in a dark blanket and displayed no movement or sounds. She described the suspect as a black male, middle to late 20`s, 5`8 to 5`10, average size, wearing black t shirt/black baggy pants (possibly shorts) and white socks/black shoes. She said he had a trimmed mustache and has a dark mark above his left eyebrow. He has a tattoo on inner left arm, possibly of a cross, a tattoo on inner right wrist, possibly of a name, and might have a grill on his lower teeth.

Around 12:30 Saturday morning, Tyler Police contacted the Department of Public Safety for assistance for an air search of an area that was heavily wooded. A large perimeter was established while the Department of Public Safety Helicopter searched the area. The search by air was conducted for close to an hour and no subject was detected in the wooded area. Officers and Investigators continue to canvas the area today in attempt to locate anyone who may have information related to this incident. Please contact your family, friends and neighbors who may have a small black infant around the age of one and check on their welfare. If you have not been able to contact or locate them, please call Tyler Police Department.

If you live near the west side of Tyler please check your property thoroughly around your residence for anything that may appear to be suspicious or related to this incident. If you know someone that matches the description of the subject please call Tyler Police Department immediately at 903-531-1000 or 911.
