Smith, Anderson, and Van Zandt counties had previously reported similar operations. According to KETK, the latest discovery consists of two separate fields. Henderson County Public Information Officer Mark Sanders says officials started working the fields around 4:00 p.m. Wednesday. The Henderson County Sheriff’s Office, DPS, and DEA have all been working the scene.

The DEA conducted an annual fly-over on Tuesday which led to the discovery of the fields. Officials say the fields are in the Moore Station area off Farm-to-Market Road 315, a mile south of Farm-to-Market Road 314. One field held 6,387 pot plants, while the other had 2,623 plants. Sanders says this is one of the largest-growing raids made in recent days, with a value of close to $8,800,000. Law enforcement says there is suspicion that all of the recent fields found in East Texas are connected. Officials say there is evidence of a campsite and they believe several people were staying there. The landowner says he was unaware of the grow, as he owns several hundred acres of land in the area.
