a74055197a20c3e9a76172060bd3253eLONGVIEW — A co-owner of The Glass Dragon stores previously indicted on federal drug and money laundering charges was back in jail Friday after being arrested at the federal courthouse in Tyler. That’s according to KETK and the Longview News-Journal. Jeremy Chad Tidwell, 40, of Gilmer previously posted $25,000 bond after being indicted with his wife, Shanna Peek Tidwell, and brother, Brian Tidwell, by a grand jury on the federal charges. The trio were arrested in December 2014 in Longview in a synthetic drug raid that involved officers from numerous local law enforcement agencies and the federal Drug Enforcement Administration.

Information about why Tidwell was sent to the Gregg County Jail was not available Friday, but details from an Aug. 3 hearing might give an indication. During that hearing, U.S. Magistrate John D. Love modified conditions of Tidwell’s pre-trial release after several of Tidwell’s drug tests showed marijuana use. Officials also noted that the officer monitoring Tidwell during his release had reported Tidwell was acting evasive and often hard to reach. Court records indicate that a summons was returned in Tidwell’s case Sept. 8, but details of that summons have been sealed.

At the August hearing, Love stressed that Tidwell only was released before his trial because he had agreed to certain conditions — one of which was abstaining from marijuana. “I’m not sure that you’re getting what’s going on here,” Love told Tidwell at the hearing. “Is there something you’re not understanding about the condition that you not use marijuana?” Tidwell told Love he had a moment of weakness. “I screwed up,” he said. “This will not happen again.” Gregory Waldron, Tidwell’s attorney, argued his client is an admitted longtime marijuana user who fell off the wagon. “Given the stress that he was dealing with, from the standpoint of negotiations, from the standpoint of one of finances — he’s several thousand dollars in debt to the IRS right now,” Waldron said.

In August, Love ordered the conditions of Tidwell’s release to include the highest level of drug testing and said Tidwell would have to ensure that his supervising officer would have access to him whenever she needed. He also warned Tidwell not to violate the conditions of his release again. “If you’re going to flaunt the court’s rules, there’s no other place to put you than in jail, OK?” Love said. “So just back on that course and you’ll be able to remain on release, but if we have any other problems, we’re going to go into custody here.” The government’s case against the Tidwells has been pushed into 2017, with a pretrial hearing set for February.
