Liberty Utilities Scheduling Town Hall Meetings

TYLER – A utility company in Smith County has scheduled two town hall meetings for customers to discuss services and their rates. Liberty Utilities has been at the center of a storm over proposed rate hikes. A proposed two-step rate increase would have raised some Tyler customer’s rates from $27.75 a month to just under $100.00. Smith County home owners would see an increase ranging from 44% to 75%. The company said the increases were needed to maintain facilities and for expansion and improvement projects. The utility’s town hall meetings will be at Hilton Garden Inn on East Grande. It will be 6:30pm October 20th for customers outside Tyler, and at 5:30pm October 21st for customers in the city.
