Murder Indictments Handed Up in Longview

LONGVIEW – The Gregg County grand jury has indicted three persons in connection with a Longview murder last spring. The three were indicted in the shooting death of Devin Newson, 20, of Lakeport. Indicted in the case were Brenndrick Kesean Lilly, 21, (pictured) Kentrell Jorail Smith, 20, and Kambresha Shante Williams, 21, all from Longview. Documents show how Lilly is believed to have fired the gunshot that killed Newson in his car after the two struggled for control of the gun. The shooting occurred during an attempted armed robbery at the Grandy’s and Food Fast convenience store at 3305 Eastman Road on May 23rd.

Warrants for the men also detail a continually-changing story from Williams about what happened leading up to the shooting and her involvement. Police noted in the warrant that Williams’ story changes several times, but she named Smith and Lilly as being involved in the murder, and officers were able to independently corroborate parts of her stories.
