Tyler’s Unemployment Drops Slightly

AUSTIN – Unemployment in Texas rose slightly last month. In East Texas, the jobless rate for Tyler and Longview dipped slightly. The Texas unemployment rate last month was 4.8%. That’s up slightly from the August figure. It reflects 4 straight months of higher jobless rates in the state. Tyler’s unemployment rate for September was 5% and Longview’s was 6.7%. Both figures are slightly lower than the August numbers but higher than September of last year. The nationwide jobless rate is 5%.
