Funeral Scheduled For Former Health System President Thompson

ray-thompsonTYLER – Funeral services will be held later this week for the former president of Tyler’s CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Francis Health System, Ray Thompson. Thompson, who was 69, died Saturday. No word on the cause of death. Thompson joined the hospital in October, 1981. He was instrumental in creating the hospital’s network of regional clinics, establishing an expansive emergency medicine program, and created one of the nation’s model sports medicine programs. He recently retired from his position as President of the healthcare system. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 5:00 till 7:00 at Stewart Family Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Friday morning at 11:00 at Tyler’s First Presbyterian Church.

Lindsey Bradley, Chief Executive Officer, CHRISTUS Health Northeast and Senior Vice President, Group Operations, CHRISTUS Health issued the following statement: “Ray Thompson was a visionary, mentor and leader, and instrumental in the founding and success of CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Health System. He loved and supported the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth, created programs that improved the lives of hundreds of thousands of people and was the constant champion of all the CHRISTUS Associates. Mr. Thompson has made a positive difference in so many lives, and this community has lost a very special man.”
