Anderson County Deputy Injured Serving a Warrant

Anderson County Sheriff's PatchPALESTINE – The Texas Rangers are assisting in the investigation of an incident that saw two persons injured, including an Anderson County Sheriff’s deputy. The incident happened Monday afternoon in Palestine as deputy Heriberto Rodriguez tried to serve a warrant on Marquette Laran Walker, 39. When Warker refused to get out of his vehicle, the deputy opened the driver’s door to remove him. That’s when Walker started driving away, dragging the deputy. The car stopped when the deputy shot Walker in the hand. Walker was first treated at a Palestine hospital, then transferred to a Tyler hospital. The deputy was treated and released at a Palestine hospital.
