TYLER — The Make-A-Wish Foundation of North Texas surprised a 17-year-old boy with the truck of his dreams. Make-A-Wish offers once in a lifetime opportunities to children with life threatening medical conditions. KETK reports, it was a wish in the making for more than four months. Nick Hill loved his 2002 Chevy but it needed some upgrading. Davis-Green Paint and Body in Tyler worked on the truck to make it close to new. “I feel like a kid on Christmas” Nick Hill, Make-A-Wish kid, said. Nick thought his truck was just getting minor fixes in the shop, but to his surprise, the whole truck was remodeled. “It’s like a brand new truck, it looks better than I’d ever imagine.” Nick Hill said.

Nick said he was raised around cars and trucks and they are a passion of his. “”We’ve been a car family for a long time” Kevin Hill, Nick’s dad, said. Nick has a white blood cell deficiency and has to get injections and treatments weekly.

“We do it every Sunday and it’s about a two and a half hour treatment, sub-dermal, five locations, so we usually call that movie night and watch a movie while that’s going on,” Kevin Hill said.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation strives to give children with illnesses a once in a lifetime opportunity.

“It’s humbling to walk into a wish reveal like this and see all the people who had their hands on this project, and this is just another great example of how the community comes together to make wishes come true,” Amy Pearson, Development Officer of Make-A-Wish, said.

Nick is excited about his new ride, and is thankful for all the work put in to make the truck transformation wish come true.

“I’m here with family, and a lot of family friends, and I’ve got a beautiful new truck,” Nick said. “I’m just really grateful this happened and I’d love to help the next one.”

You can help support the “Believe Campaign.” For every letter written to Santa and dropped off at Macy’s, they’ll donate a dollar to Make-A-Wish.
