Hit and Run Driver Located in Longview

LONGVIEW – Longview police have found the driver involved in a hit and run accident. They plan to file charges against the driver for felony hit and run. It happened shortly before 9:00 Thursday morning on North Eastman Road.The accident occurred when a northbound Hyundai Sonata changed lanes. It hit a an SUV heading in the same direction. This caused the SUV to cross the median where it was hit head-on by a truck. The driver of the SUV, Rowena Hunter Jackson, 79, of Longview, is hospitalized.

Witnesses told officers Jackson was traveling north in the inside lane. A pickup driven by Joshua Mike-Allen Sims, 37, of Diana, was traveling southbound in the outside lane of North Eastman Road. The Hyundai was traveling northbound in the outside lane of North Eastman Road. The Hyundai’s driver attempted to change lanes and struck Jackson’s vehicle, causing it to travel across the median and into the southbound lanes of traffic. Sims swerved to avoid Jackson’s vehicle but the two vehicles collided head-on, causing Jackson’s vehicle to roll onto it’s left side, off the roadway. The Hyundai left the scene without stopping.
