Human Remains Found in East Texas

NACOGDOCHES – Human remains found in a wooded area of Nacogdoches County, have been sent to a Tyler lab for DNA testing to make positive identification. The remains are thought to be those of Centrella Chimney who was reported missing from the Sand Hill area on July 27 of last year. The remains were found Sunday by a landowner was out checking his land. The remains were found down a steep embankment about two miles from State Highway 21 East. The area is less than three miles from where Chimney lived.

According to a news release from the Nacogdoches County Sheriff’s Department, The Nacogdoches County Constable Office Precinct 4 and the Sheriff’s Office has conducted several searches since last July, looking for the woman. Chimney suffered from mental illness, and was known to walk frequently along highway 21 east from her residence toward Chireno and occasionally toward Nacogdoches. Searches by air, K-9, police, volunteer organizations and the community have been conducted along highway 21 East since she was reported missing, but without success.
