Authorities: Business Owner Arrested with Thousands of Prescription Pills

EDGEWOOD – An East Texas business owner arrested at a car dealership in Edgewood is accused of possessing thousands of prescription pills. KETK reports The Van Zandt County Sheriff’s Office, along with other local and federal agencies, raided Michael Goggans’ business on January 12. Authorities say the prominent business owner was arrested on multiple charges: manufacture and delivery of controlled substance and two counts of unlawful delivery or manufacture with intent to deliver simulated controlled substance.

When law enforcement search the business, they say they found 3,404 prescription pills and an ounce of marijuana. A search of Goggans’ home reportedly led to 19,560 more prescription pills. The pills were an assortment ranging from Hydrocodone to antibiotics. Authorities say they also found three stolen firearms, one from 1992; three stolen trailers; and a stolen lawn mower at the location. Following the home search, two more charges were brought against the susepct: manufacture and delivery of controlled substance and manufacture and delivery of controlled substance.
Goggans was booked into the Van Zandt County Jail and released on $350,000 bond. The investigation is still ongoing, pending further criminal charges.
