TYLER — One person is dead and another is injured following an accident that occurred while working on a damaged power line in Tyler. Police say a pickup traveling eastbound on the Loop struck an electrical pole causing it to fall. The vehicle left the scene after the crash. Contracted employees with Oncor were on scene repairing the damaged power line shortly before 5:30, when two employees came in contact with a live wire. One of the workers, Wesley Ray Cain (pictured), 34, of Whitehouse, was electrocuted. Injured was Billy Titsworth, 42, of Wills Point. He was transported to Christus Trinity Mother Frances Hospital and then transferred to Dallas.

The truck involved in the accident was later located by police. It was heavily damaged, but unoccupied. Police spokesman Don Martin says they determined the truck had been driven by Adrian Juarez Noyola (pictured), 25, of Tyler. He did not have a driver’s license because he was an illegal alien. He has been charged with “duty upon striking fixture / landscape, a class B misdemeanor. He has been booked into the Smith County Jail with bond set at $20,000. He is not facing criminal charges in connection with the workers death, but could face civil charges. He’s currently being held on an immigration detainer.

The electricity is back on in the area and traffic is once again flowing smoothly at New Copeland Road and Loop 323.
