HOUSTON (AP) – A group of 11 Cuban immigrants being detained in Texas are fighting deportation after alleging they were wrongly turned away while trying to enter the U.S. just before a longstanding immigration policy related to Cubans was rescinded. An attorney for the immigrants says they reached U.S. soil just before President Barack Obama announced on Jan. 12 the end to the policy, which allowed any Cuban to stay if they made it to U.S. soil.
