Sheriff: Remember the True Meaning of Memorial Day

TYLER — Smith County Sheriff Larry Smith wants to make sure we remember what Memorial Day is all about — honoring those who have given their lives in the service of their country. Smith took the podium Monday at the annual Memorial Day service at Tyler Memorial Funeral Home and Cemetery. The sheriff also hopes those who have made the ultimate sacrifice will be remembered each day — not just one day a year. And he tipped his hat to surviving veterans of America’s armed services.
