LONGVIEW — A beloved Longview businessman from one of the city’s most historic families has passed away. KETK reports Keith Anderson Castleberry, better known as “Buster,” died early Monday morning in Longview at the age of 77. The lifelong Longview resident and graduate of Spring Hill High School played a pivotal role in developing the Spring Hill area in northern Longview alongside his brother, Larry, through their company, Castleberry Construction.

Castleberry came from a lineage of some of the earliest settlers of Gregg County. His ancestors Elmira and Aaron T. Castleberry II, settled in the Pine Tree area of Longview in 1845. Gregg County officials are awaiting the stamp of approval from the Texas Historical Commission to honor the Castleberry family with a State Historical Marker. Bootlegger Grill, located at 1217 McCann Road in Longview, will host a send-off toast to Castleberry on Wednesday night at 6:30 p.m

Funeral services for Castleberry are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Thursday, at Welch Funeral Home in Longview, following a 12:00 noon visitation, also at Welch. He will be laid to rest at the historic Elmira Chapel Cumberland Presbyterian Church, named for his relatives, in Spring Hill.
