Teen Dies Following April Car Accident
Posted/updated on: June 22, 2017 at 11:11 amKILGORE – A Kilgore teenager died Saturday from injuries sustained in a car wreck the night of April 29. KETK reports Jeremy “Jay” Cox, 16, suffered a traumatic brain injury in the wreck after he dropped off his prom date. Since the wreck, Cox had spent the last seven weeks in the Intensive Care Unit at Dallas Children’s Hospital. Cox’s mother, Rachel Rowe, serves as the Kilgore Police Department dispatch supervisor. Jeremy’s stepfather, John Rowe, is a detective with the department. Following the accident, friends of the family held fundraisers, including a benefit bass fishing tournament, in order to assist the family with its needs.
Cox was active in his youth group at the First Christian Church of Kilgore, where he did mission work. He loved baseball, fishing, ATV riding, hunting and his job at Whataburger. He was a jokester, known for always making people laugh.
