Boil Water Notices Issued for Portions of Palestine

PALESTINE – Two boil water notices are out for Palestine. It is due to a water main replacement for residents in the area of Bassett Road from West Point Tap Street Leram Street. The second one is in the area of West Carolina Street from North Fort Street to North Texas Street and West Alabama Street. This one is because of a fire hydrant replacement. The notices will remain in effect until water system officials notify residents that the water is safe for drinking.

According to the city news release, to ensure destruction of harmful bacteria and other microbes, water for drinking, cooking and making ice should be boiled prior to use. The water should be brought to a vigorous rolling boil and then boiled for two minutes. In lieu of boiling, you may purchase bottled water or obtain water from some other suitable source. Residents will be notified when the boil water notice is lifted and the water is safe to use.
