Two-County Chase Ends in Arrest

EAST TEXAS — Multiple law enforcement agencies were involved in a chase Thursday morning on I-20. KETK reports the call came in to the Smith County Sheriff’s Office shortly after 9 a.m. in reference to a robbery. After responding to the Texas Best Smokehouse on Highway 271 at I-20, authorities determined it was a theft. They say a man reached over the counter, took money, and left. Lindale police began chasing him on the interstate, following him into Van Zandt County. The DPS then put out spikes on the interstate, and that stopped the vehicle. The suspect was arrested in following a foot chase. The vehicle was reportedly stolen from the Dallas area.
