Tyler Detective Follows God’s Calling

TYLER – A Tyler policeman is trading is changing weapons, from a revolver to a bible. A ceremony was held Friday afternoon as Detective Josh Green retired after 20 years on the Tyler police force. He is retiring to pursue full-time ministry. Green was the Senior Pastor for the County Line Baptist Church in Bullard for the past 5 years. He said he felt God’s calling to plant a church where a Gospel presence is desperately needed. After retirement, he and his family will be moving to Fort Collins, Colorado to begin the work of church planting.

Detective Green began his career as a Tyler Police Officer in 1997. For the first three years he was a patrol officer. He was named a member of the bike team in 1999. Ten years later, to the present time, he was assigned to the Youth Crimes division as a detective. He also served on the Tyler Police Department SWAT Team for 10 years. He has also worked as a Field Training Officer, instructor for the Tyler Junior College Police Academy, Firearms Instructor and Use of Force Instructor.
