A Queen is Crowned in Tyler

TYLER – Ms. Hopkins County 2017, Patsy Roan Crist of Cumby, has been crowned the 2017 Ms. Texas Senior Classic Queen in a pageant in Tyler. It was held Saturday night at the Holiday Inn on South Broadway in Tyler. Other winners include 1st runner up, Charlotte Adam Graves of Bullard, and second runner up, Judith Ward of Longview. Over 20 ladies from East and North Texas participated in the pageant. This marks the second straight year the pageant was held in Tyler after being held in the Metroplex for around 20 years.

Other winners include:
Most Photogenic-Evelyn Godden, Tyler
Best Philosophy of Life-Patsy Crist, Cumby
Best Talent-Judith Ward, Longview
Ms. Congeniality-Barbra Price, Burleson
Best Evening Gown-Misti Ford, Tyler
Volunteer Award-Carol Swanson, Tyler
Best Spirit-Barbara Price, Burleson and Sharon Toole, Carrollton

The pageant is very much like the Miss America pageant, complete with choreographed opening number, evening gowns, interviews with the judges and talent. The only exception is that the contestants must be ages 60 and over. The outgoing queen is Judy Griffn Deal of Tyler.
