Airport officials say he got out of the plane safely with no reported injuries. He was the only passenger. Operations will continue normally at the airport but Runway 1-7 will be closed for cleanup until further notice. Earlier, airport staffers had been keeping an eye on the twin engine Piper Cheyenne as it experienced difficulty getting its left side landing gear in place and the pilot circled the field to burn off fuel.
