LONGVIEW — A Kilgore man is expected to plead guilty to intoxication manslaughter after police say he caused a wreck that killed a Harleton teenager in 2016. According to KETK, Thomas Henkel, 34, will plead guilty today in connection with the death of Lauren Elrod. The wreck happened in June of last year on Loop 281. Police say a Range Rover, driven by Henkel,, was traveling eastbound on the loop when he crossed over the center median and hit Elrod’s car head-on. Elrod was ejected from her vehicle after it rolled, and was pronounced dead at the scene. Henkel was charged with intoxication manslaughter with a vehicle and booked into the Gregg County Jail.
