ATHENS – Traffic stops in Henderson County lead to drug charges and three persons arrested. Sheriff Botie Hillhouse says when Roderick Gerard Young, 47, of Athens, was pulled over, he had 35 white rocks, believed to be crack cocaine, in his possession. Deputies also found a large sum of money. From the evidence, investigators believe Young was selling drugs in Henderson County. He was booked into the Henderson County Jail on the charge of the manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance.

Meanwhile, a traffic stop in the Thunderbird Shores subdivision in the Gun Barrel City area resulted in the arrest of Matthew Leroy Risler, 31, of Gun Barrell City. Deputies found a crystal-like substance believed to be methamphetamines, a digital scale and several empty plastic baggies commonly used to distribute the drug. Risler, who was wanted on a warrant for a parole violation, has been charged with the delivery or manufacture of a controlled substance and failure to identify or giving false information.

Also arrested with Risler was Michael John Box, 37, of Gun Barrel City. He was arrested and charged with hindering the arrest of Risler
