According to the Longview News-Journal, officials declined to identify the student because of his age. The student faces a charge of terroristic threat. Collum said Friday that the student’s threat was overheard Thursday by another person.
“The Hallsville ISD administration and police department are committed to doing everything possible to assure the safety of our students, faculty and staff, therefore all reported threats are assessed and acted upon decisively,” he said in a statement. “Because we received the initial information from someone who heard the threat, we were able to intervene before any chance of danger existed. A complete investigation was conducted by the campus principal and Hallsville ISD police officers.
The student remains enrolled in Hallsville ISD, officials said.
