WILLS POINT — An East Texas man is behind bars after leading police on a high-speed chase. According to KTBB’s news partner KETK, around 5:20 Tuesday evening, the Wills Point Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a pickup truck believed to be stolen. The driver, Robert Bryan Quire, 39, initially pulled over, then drove off leading police on a miles long high speed chase. He eventually turned into the parking lot of Diamond L Vet Clinic, where he jumped out of the truck and began running. He was arrested a short time later.

A K-9 unit detected drugs and illegal instruments in the vehicle, which police say could be used in committing financial crimes. Quire was booked into the Van Zandt County Jail on numerous charges, including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, evading arrest/detention with a vehicle and possession of marijuana. Bond has not been set.
