TYLER — Though a proposed name change for Robert E. Lee High School was taken off the June Tyler ISD board agenda last week, it’s clear the issue hasn’t gone away. According to our news partner KETK, a rally was held Monday evening by black community leaders. That was followed by a school board meeting attended by some who who had been at the rally, along with a number of Robert E. Lee students who showed support for a name change. 26 people took the podium at the board meeting, though the board was not allowed to comment since the item wasn’t on the agenda. There was no immediate word on any specific followup to Monday’s events.
