Second Suspect Wanted in Park Shooting Arrested

TYLER — Authorities have arrested the second suspect in connection to a shooting at Fun Forest Park. On Friday afternoon, June 8, officers received a tip on the location of Davonta Hill, 25, of Tyler. Officers located Hill in a house on W. Claude Street in Tyler. He was booked into the Smith County Jail on two charges of aggravated assault causing bodily injury and one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. His bond was set at $1.5 million.

Datreon Jackson, 23, Tyler, turned himself in to police Tuesday, June 5. He was charged with three counts of aggravated assault and remains jailed on $900,000 bond. According to our news partner KETK, on Wednesday, May 30, around 6:15 p.m., police received numerous calls of gunfire at Fun Forest Park on Glenwood Street. When officers arrived on scene, they located evidence indicating shots fired, but all individuals involved in the incident had left the scene.

Upon further investigation, police found a vehicle that was involved in the shooting on Breckenridge Street, riddled with bullet holes.

Two black males, ages 17 and 26, had been struck by gunfire and were taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. An 18-year-old black female, who was in a separate vehicle, was injured by glass shattered during the gunfire. She was also taken to a local medical center for treatment. Officers located a second vehicle, involved in the shooting, parked behind a residence on West Fourth Street. SWAT members cleared the residence and did not locate the subjects who were involved.

Investigators are still seeking a motive for the shooting.
