JT’s Bush, Hackett Commit to TCU

A pair of John Tyler Lions have decided that TCU is where they want to play college football.

Junior WR/QB David Bush and Junior Safety Chris Hackett verbally committed to play for the Horned Frogs, after the two visited TCU’s Fort Worth campus on the school’s Junior Day this past Saturday. Both were 2nd Team All-District 11-5A selections last season.

Bush, an explosive multi-faceted athlete, also considered Tulsa, Houston, and SMU. He is expected to take over the reins under center for CUJO next season as a senior. Bush accounted for 816 all-purpose yards and 12 touchdowns helping the Lions reach the Class 5A Division II State Quarterfinals in 2009. Read the rest of this entry »

Class 5A All-State Football Team

JTJJohnsonwebjtgerronjtdorseySomewhat snubbed, the Rose City schools only had three players receive honorable mention when the AP Class 5A All-State football team was released Thursday. John Tyler Quarterback Jeremy Johnson, Offensive Tackle Gerron Anthony, and Defensive tackle Ashton Dorsey were the honorees.

Below is the 2009 Texas Class 5A All-State high school football team, as voted on by The Associated Press Sports Editors based on regular-season performance. Players are listed in alphabetical order at each position.

John Tyler Playoffs 3rd Round Photo Gallery

The John Tyler Lions advanced the 4th round of the Class 5A Division II playoffs with a 37-24 win over Klein Collins in Waco Saturday. JT lead by a 16-10 score at halftime but outscored the Tigers 14-0 in the 3rd quarter and cruised to the 13 point victory.
