It is a little-heralded fact that many former NFL players lead retirements plagued by pain, headaches, daily suffering and early onset of dementia. Chris Nowinski is the author of “Head Games, Football’s Concussion Crisis”. He and former New England Patriots linebacker Ted Johnson have joined the Boston University School of Medicine Center for the Study of Traumatic Encephalopathy. Their goal is to educate coaches at all levels, grade school through the NFL, on the dangers of ignoring the effects of concussion and repeated head trauma.
