Man Waives Jury Trial in Murder Case

GILMER – A Kilgore man has waived his right to a jury trial for an Upshur County murder. The Court will now proceed in January with the case against Xavier Mumphrey, 19. He is one of four defendants charged in the murder of Kendrick Lemichael Jackson, 29. He was found shot to death in his home in the Lafayette community of Upshur County. A co-defendant, Decorian Quantez Robbins, 19, of Avinger, is scheduled for jury selection on January 8.
