LONGVIEW — Spring Hill ISD has approved adding and paying off-duty Longview police officers for extra campus security. Our news partner KETK reports the move is in response to the February 14 Parkland school shooting. Longview officers make money doing off-duty work at various places. Since officers have various off days, the district says it could have up to nine officers around during the week. District officials say having more officers familiar with the campuses keeps students safe.
