New Extended Hours for Tyler Trails

TYLER — On Wednesday, the city of Tyler made changes to the current ordinance that will allow extended hours for Tyler Trails. According to our news partner KETK, previously, parks and trails were open from sunrise to sunset. The new amendment was enacted to enable more use by locals. The new hours are from 5:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. Peach Park was also a topic of discussion that would enable updating of the playground equipment, benches, lighting and trashcans.

Throughout the process, a plan will be designed then discussed with the neighborhood. After a final decision is made, the city will take the plans to the half-cent sales tax board to discuss funding for the park. No date was set on each of these steps or when a final decision will be made.
