Heartland National TB Center Receives Grant
Posted/updated on: February 9, 2018 at 1:39 pmSan Antonio – The Heartland National TB Center in San Antonio, part of UT Health Northeast in Tyler, has been awarded a 5-year, $6.7 million grant by the Centers for Disease Control. The center was also selected as one of four TB Centers of Excellence in the U.S. The center works through education to reach the CDC’s goal of preventing, treating, and controlling tuberculosis (TB) and tuberculosis infection.
According to a news release, The Heartland region consists of Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota, North Dakota, Iowa, Missouri, Arkansas, and Louisiana. HNTC also has responsibilities for training in America Samoa, the Commonwealth of the Northern Marinara Islands, the Federated State of Micronesia, Guam, the Republic of Palau, and the Republic of the Marshall Islands.
