TYLER – Peace officers who have been killed in the line of duty have been remembered during a Tyler Ceremony Tuesday. Since 1851, 14 law enforcement officers have died in Smith County. They were honored during the Peace Officers Memorial Service. It was held on the Tyler square at noon. Also remembered were the 18 Texas law officers who were killed last year. As each name was called, an officer came forward and placed a white rose on a wreath. This was followed by a 21 gun salute and the playing of taps.
