WASHINGTON, D.C. — Federal law is about to get rid of a word, and the only House vote against the change came from an East Texan. The word is “lunatic,” the measure strikes it from federal law relating to construction, and it’s now on its way to the White House for president Obama’s signature. The House vote was 398-to-1, and that one vote came from Congressman Louie Gohmert of Tyler. Gohmert has issued a statement saying that “not only should we not eliminate the word `lunatic’ from federal law when the most pressing issue of the day is saving our country from bankruptcy; we should use the word to describe the people who want to continue with business as usual in Washington.”
