One Arrested Following Incident at Smith County Club

TYLER — One person has been arrested after he was accused of trying to run down a Smith County law officer. Taken into custody was Ricky Bruno, 20, of Tyler. Sheriff Larry Smith tells KETK that an off duty deputy from the Smith County Precinct 1 Constable’s office was working security at Outlaw’s club on Highway 110 between Tyler and Whitehouse late Saturday night. The deputy was apparently trying to escort Bruno out of the club when he is said to have gotten into his vehicle and tried to run over the officer. The officer is said to have fired at the vehicle, which crashed into a ditch. Bruno, who was not injured, was booked into the Smith County Jail on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and evading an officer.
