Man Arrested after Allegedly Injuring Officer

cookmugccsoLAKE JACKSONVILLE — A man accused of fleeing officers, injuring one in the process, has been arrested by Cherokee County authorities. Richard Ryan Cook, 42, was arrested at his home in the area of FM 747 South around 2:30 Tuesday afternoon. He was arrested without incident on a pardon and parole warrant as well as aggravated assault on a public servant.

Last Friday morning, Cherokee County Sheriff’s deputies were trying to serve Cook with a warrant. They say, as they approached his residence, Cook fled on a motorcycle, hitting one of the deputies. He is listed in good condition. Numerous law enforcement officers, aided by Department of Public Safety helicopter spent many hours unsuccessfully searching for Cook that day. Precinct One Justice of the Peace, Judge Brenda Dominy, issued an arrest warrant for aggravated assault on a public servant using a deadly weapon.
