thumb_longview-cityofLONGVIEW — The intersection of Tryon Road and Hollybrook Drive is again open to traffic along Tryon Road. In addition, a small portion of Hollybrook Drive has reopened to provide access to the J. L. Everhart Elementary School in time for the new school year. According to a news release from the city of Longview, Hollybrook Drive is still closed from Eastman Road to J.L. Everhart and from Loop 281 to Tryon Road.

The intersection of Tryon and Hollybrook was rebuilt as a part of the Hollybrook Drive Improvements, which includes the expansion of Hollybrook from two to four lanes from Loop 281 to Eastman Road. The project was approved by voters as part of the May 2011 Street Bond election. In conjunction with the upcoming Magnolia Drive widening project, the street widening of Hollybrook Drive will provide a continuous four lane route from Loop 281 to McCann Road along Hollybrook and Magnolia Drive.

Although a portion of the road has reopened, drivers are encouraged to drive cautiously as construction continues in the area. Drivers wishing to travel between Eastman and Loop 281 must continue to use alternate routes. The Hollybrook widening project began in June and is expected to take approximately one year to complete. This project is being constructed by East Texas Bridge of Longview. If you have any questions related to construction, call the City’s Project Manager, Alton Bradley, at 903-237-1067.
