thumb_police-4WHITE OAK (Staff/AP) Authorities are following up after a small child from White Oak was found wandering in Texarkana, Arkansas. Just before 3:30 last Sunday morning, White Oak police were dispatched to a residence in the 200 block of East Center Street in reference to a missing six-year-old girl. After a search of the home and area, officers obtained other information concerning a possible suspect named Jeremy Jones, who is a 29-year-old cousin of the victim. Officials say it was determined through investigation that Jones had taken the child from the residence.

A BOLO (Be on the lookout) was put out concerning the child, and shortly after 5:30 that morning, the Miller County Sheriffs Department in Texarkana, Arkansas, contacted White Oak officials saying they had located the child walking down Highway 549 in the rain with just her pajamas on and no shoes. The victim stated Jones had taken her from the house.

A warrant was obtained from the Gregg County District Attorneys office for Jones for the offense of kidnapping. He was located by local police in Antler, Oklahoma, where he was arrested on the kidnapping warrant and placed in the Pushmataha County Jail. The case is still under investigation with the assistance of the FBI.
