Pine Tree Student Died From Illness

LONGVIEW — A Pine Tree ISD student died over the weekend as a result of a sudden illness. According to KETK, the student has been identified as Kendra Gonzales, a 10th grader. The illness that took her life has not been named.
The Pine Tree School District released the following statement to KETK:
Pine Tree ISD is deeply saddened by the loss of one of our tenth grade students, Kendra Gonzalez, who died due to a sudden illness over the weekend. The school districts crisis management procedures are in place to help students and faculty who knew her.
As part of our crisis management plan, we have provided school counselors to meet with high school students throughout the day. Counselors will be available throughout the week to help our students, faculty, and staff cope with this terrible tragedy.
Parents will be notified through a letter sent home today, to contact the school should they have questions or concerns about their own son or daughter as they process the difficult news. Please keep this family in your thoughts and prayers.
Funeral arrangements will be shared as they become available. Cards of condolence may be sent to the High School Counselor’s Office.
