trudeau_mugWELLS — Some new developments are reported on the Church of Wells, which first hit headlines in July. That’s when media learned about parents looking for their daughter, 26-year-old church member Catherine Grove, after she disappeared from her Arkansas home. KETK has now learned one of the church’s deacons was recently arrested in the state of New York on a charge of second degree aggravated harassment.

The arrest record shows 31-year-old Richard Trudeau (pictured) was arrested on January 10 around 10 p.m. in the town of Harrietstown. According to the New York State Troopers’ public information officer, Jennifer V. Fleishman, Trudeau was arrested after a woman made a call to police that she was being threatened by Trudeau and feared for her life. His bond is set at $4,000, or $2,000 cash bail.

And there’s more. This past Sunday, Catherine Grove was reportedly spotted at Millard’s Crossing, a public park in Nacogdoches. She was said to be participating in a wedding of one of her fellow church members. Her father, Andy Grove, was there hoping to get an opportunity to speak to his daughter. Grove says he was kicked off the site by church members. Shortly after, Nacogdoches police and sheriff’s deputies arrived at the park in response to a disturbance call of a man with a shotgun in the area, but they say no shotgun was found. Mr. Grove said he saw Catherine from a distance only for a brief second and was not able to speak with her.
