Longview Police Warn of Pet Scam

LONGVIEW � Nothing says love like man’s best friend, and East Texans are falling victim to a scam pulling at their heart strings. According to KETK, The Longview Police Department is warning anyone who is looking to buy a pet — or really any item — on the Internet should be cautious with the purchase. Authorities have recently noticed a scheme enticing people to buy animals that don’t exist through the use of stock photos taken from the web. Buyers will send their money before receiving the pet, and in turn are duped by the predators, left with an empty wallet and nothing to brighten their day. If it seems to good to be true, it’s never a good idea, warned Longview PD.
