Man Arrested for Robbery

TYLER — A Tyler man has been arrested after being accused of stealing items from a store and assaulting the store manager. Taken into custody yesterday afternoon was Bernard Mitchell, 72. Police say Mitchell was supposedly upset over the service he received at the CPU Store at 201 Rice Road. He is said to have gone behind the counter, hit the store manager in the head with his fist, took a couple of computer motherboards and left the store. The store manager received minor injuries. Mitchell was taken to the hospital for treatment for a cut to his head, then booked into the Smith County Jail. Police Sgt. Luke Shafer said Mitchell was charged with robbery due to the fact he committed an assault during the commission of a theft.
