TxDOT signTYLER — Here’s a quick look at other work planned in Smith County by the Tyler District of the Texas Department of Transportation.

TYLER — Construction crews from contractor APAC-Dallas, Inc. on Monday began work to reshape northbound U.S. Highway 69 between Toll 49 and Cumberland Road to lower the grade of the roadway to allow better access and sight distance into the new development in the area. The project will also add two traffic signals in the area to facilitate easier access for southbound traffic turning into the development.

During construction, the speed limit in the area will be reduced from 55 mph to 45 mph and traffic will regularly be reduced to one lane, particularly on the northbound side.

The $2.1 million project has been completely funded by the developer.

Also this week in Smith County, Texas Department of Transportation maintenance crews this week are scheduled to continue base and pavement repairs on State Highway 135 between
Troup and Arp, then move to SH 135 near the Overton City Limits.

A second crew is scheduled to continue base and pavement repairs on East Loop 323 in Tyler between the Loop 323 Extension and Commerce Street.

Daytime lane closures will be in effect in each location while the work is in progress. Motorists are encouraged to be prepared to reduce speed and merge in and around the work zone.

Also this week in Tyler, TxDOT, in conjunction with the Union Pacific Railroad on Tuesday is scheduled to make repairs to the railroad tracks in the westbound lanes North Loop 323 east of US 69.

Daytime lane closures will be in effect in each location while the work is in progress, and motorists are encouraged to be prepared to reduce speed and merge in and around the work zones.

GREGG COUNTY – Texas Department of Transportation contractor Madden Construction, Inc., is scheduled to conclude resurfacing operations by Tuesday this week on Farm Road 2605 (Tenneryville Road) between Farm Road 1845 (Pine Tree Road) in Longview to the end of state maintenance in White Oak.

Meanwhile, construction crews are scheduled to continue work to add a left-turn lane from U.S. Highway 259 Kilgore Bypass at Synergy Park.

Daytime lane closures will be in effect in each location while the work is in progress, and flaggers will control traffic in two-lane areas.

WOOD COUNTY – Construction crews this week are scheduled to continue work to add passing lanes on U.S. Highway 69 between Farm Road 779 in Golden and Loop 564 in Mineola. The approximate $2.6 million project let to contract in June 2013 and work began in September and is scheduled for completion in summer 2014.

Also this week in Wood County, TxDOT maintenance crews are scheduled to make edge and pavement repairs on US 80 between Mineola and FM 778 in Crow.

Daytime lane closures will be in effect in each location while the work is in progress, and flaggers will control traffic.

VAN ZANDT COUNTY – Texas Department of Transportation maintenance crews this week are scheduled to make base and pavement repairs on Farm Road 1504 between U.S. Highway 80 in Edgewood and State Highway 64 in Myrtle Springs. Daytime lane closures will be in effect while the work is in progress, and flaggers will control traffic.

CHEROKEE COUNTY – Texas Department of Transportation maintenance crews are scheduled to make base and pavement repairs through Tuesday this week in the curb-and-gutter section of US 79 west of Jacksonville, followed mid-week by the same operations in various locations on US 69 between Jacksonville and Rusk. Daytime lane closures will be in effect in each location while the work is in progress, and motorists are encouraged to be prepared to reduce speed and merge in and around the work zones.

ANDERSON COUNTY – Texas Department of Transportation maintenance crews this week are scheduled to clean and repair ditches in various locations on Farm Road 321 between State Highway 155 in Mound Prairie and Farm Road 2574 in Neches.

Looking ahead to next week, construction crews on the U.S. Highway 79 project between Palestine and the Trinity River are scheduled to shift traffic on the project, which has 55 and 45 mph speed limits throughout. Daytime lane closures will be in effect while the work is in progress, and flaggers will control traffic.

HENDERSON COUNTY – Construction crews on Monday are scheduled to begin work to add shoulders to Farm Road 317 between Farm Road 314 south of Brownsboro and Farm Road 315 south of Chandler.

Also this week in Henderson County, Texas Department of Transportation maintenance crews are scheduled to continue resurfacing operations on U.S. Highway 175 between Farm Road 804 east of Athens and FM 315 in Poynor. Daytime lane closures will be in effect in each location while the work is in progress, and flaggers will control traffic.

RUSK COUNTY – Texas Department of Transportation maintenance crews this week are scheduled to continue several weeks of base and pavement repairs on Farm Road 95 between State Highway 315 and U.S. Highway 84 east of Mount Enterprise. Daytime lane closures will be in effect while the work is in progress and flaggers will control traffic.
