Rice Elementary Construction 4-14TYLER — Tyler ISD continues to move forward with construction and renovation projects as a result of the multimillion dollar bond package passed by voters last May. BOND 2013 projects include a Career and Technical Education (CTE) Center, two new middle school campuses at the existing Moore MST Magnet School and Boulter Middle School locations, one new middle school at the Three Lakes location in South Tyler and renovations and additions to Dixie and Rice (pictured) elementary schools.

At the CTE Center, the most visible updates include the completion of the front road that runs parallel to Earl Campbell Parkway and the continued erection of the buildings structural steel beams. Other items nearing completion include roofing and interior framing of the walls on the first and second floors, as well as the masonry walls around the auto shop. Work also continues at the elementary campuses with all slabs complete at Dixie and the masonry work of the new gym and kitchen proceeding. At Rice, structural steel columns are being erected and plumbing and electrical work inside the masonry walls has begun.

At the middle school campuses, Geopiers are being installed to reinforce the soil at the Moore and Boulter sites. The subgrade work at Moore is complete and excavation of the existing courtyard is underway. At Boulter, the building pad is complete and crews have begun grading the new roads. At the new Three Lakes location, the building pad is also complete and grading for roads and the football field has begun. Furthermore, a tree survey was recently conducted, as required by the City of Tyler, and found that 467 trees of at least 10 inches in diameter will be saved, meeting the Citys requirements.

Every month, the Districts construction project manager, Monte Robinett, provides construction updates to the Tyler ISD Board of Trustees during regularly scheduled board meetings, which are typically held on the third Thursday of the month at the Plyler Instructional Complex. You can go to the districts website of http://www.tylerisd.org for updates on the bond projects.
