Suspect Arrested Following Knife Attack

TYLER � A Tyler man has been charged with aggravated assault following a stabbing. It happened around 9:30 Sunday morning at 215 North Beckham. Officers learned that a Hispanic male, identified as Juan Francisco Oliva, 50, attacked another Hispanic male with a knife cutting the victim’s right hand. The suspect was still at the scene when officers arrived and was taken into custody. The victim, identified as Juan Benegas, 32, of Tyler, received a cut to his right hand which did not require immediate medical attention. Oliva was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and booked into the Smith County Jail.
