TxDOT signTYLER — Here’s a quick look at events and work planned in the Tyler District of the state highway department.

SMITH COUNTY – Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) maintenance crews in Smith County will be doing edge work on Farm Road 14 north of Interstate Highway 20 this week. A second crew is scheduled to make pavement repairs on Farm Road 2767 at the junction of Farm Road 757. Ditch work will also be conducted on various other roads in the area. Daytime lane closures will be in effect in each location while the work is in progress. Motorists should be prepared to reduce speeds and merge in and around work zones.

GREGG COUNTY – Texas Department of Transportation maintenance crews this week are scheduled to conduct routine maintenance to include cleaning ditches and replacing culverts on FM 2906 in Easton. The roadway will be reduced to one lane with flaggers so slow down and be prepared to stop when directed to do so.

Texas Department of Transportation contractor, Longview Bridge and Road, is placing concrete paving on the Loop 281 Railroad Overpass project from State Highway 31 to a mile south of SH 31 in Longview. Motorists can expect delays, particularly in the mornings, due to southbound lane closures while this work is performed. It is expected to be completed by Tuesday, weather permitting.

ANDERSON COUNTY – Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) maintenance crews are scheduled to conduct work on the shoulders of State Highway 294 between Slocum and the End of State Maintenance next week. The same type of work is planned on U.S. Highway 287 North from Farm Road 321 to just north of Farm Road 860 between Tennessee Colony and Bethel, Texas. On Tuesday, Palestine crews are scheduled to sweep the Trinity River and Trinity River Slough bridges on U.S. Highway 79 between the Anderson and Freestone county lines. Expect lane closures at all locations with traffic control provided by flaggers or other devices such as arrow boards and signs. Motorists are reminded to slow down and pay attention in work zones.

CHEROKEE COUNTY – Texas Department of Transportation maintenance crews are planning to work on an overlay and widening project on Farm Road 747 North in the Jacksonville area next week. Motorists can expect intermittent lane closures during this operation and are reminded to slow down and pay attention in work zones.

RUSK COUNTY – Texas Department of Transportation maintenance crews this week will be performing edge work on Farm Road 840 from FM 840 to Farm Road 2867 in Henderson. Daytime lane closures are likely during this work.

WOOD COUNTY – The contractor for the U.S. Highway 69 widening project in Mineola is expected to apply a special surface this week. Maintenance will also be conducted on various slopes and ditches on US 69 and State Highway 154. Day time lane closures will be in effect in each location while the work is in progress. Motorists are reminded to slow down and pay attention in work zones.

VAN ZANDT COUNTY – Texas Department of Transportation maintenance crews expect to finish the overlay project on Farm Road 17 between State Highway 110 and Interstate Highway 20 near Grand Saline next week. Canton Maintenance will continue work on the Nova Chip project on State Highway 19 between Interstate Highway 20 and State Highway 64 and continuing west on SH 64. Crews will also be conducting other maintenance work at locations around Van Zandt County. Daytime lane closures will be in effect while the work is in progress. Flaggers will conduct traffic control.

The Mineola Area Office says work continues on the bridge replacement project on county roads 2045 and 2504 in Van Zandt County this week. The contractor will continue laying hot mix on CR 2045 and replacing guardrail on the roadways. The contract also requires closing CR 2504 to conduct necessary work. Elsewhere, crews will be continuing culvert work on Farm Road 317 as part of the Farm Road 198 Project. Final work will also be performed to close out Districtwide Seal Coat operations. Motorists can expect minor delays due to lane closures and are encouraged to use alternate routes when possible.
