Longview Garbage CollectionsLONGVIEW – The City of Longview has adopted a plan to simplify recycling and trash collection. The goal of the simplified collection proposal is to increase recycling participation while also reducing the long-term cost of trash collection. Every City of Longview Sanitation customer will receive a 95 gallon trash cart and a 95 gallon recycling cart. The carts will not cost anything and will remain the property of the City of Longview.

Starting today, Collection days will be simplified from twice per week trash and once for recycling to one collection day per week with trash and recycling being collected on the same day. This will help to make collection run as efficiently as possible while making trash and recycling collection much easier for residents. Many people have asked what they should do with their existing small blue recycling bins. The City of Longview Sanitation Division and Keep Longview Beautiful are teaming up with all the Longview school districts to use the bins at the schools. Residents wishing to donate their bin to a school should wash their blue bins and then deliver the bins to their local schools once the new semester begins. The blue bins are the perfect size for classroom recycling and will help bolster these schools’ recycling efforts.

City of Longview Recycling Coordinator, David Simmons says, “We are so pleased to be able to help our local schools with their recycling efforts. They are already doing a fantastic job and we hope that these bins will serve as tools to help further their efforts and save them money.” Please note that use of the 95-gallon carts are optional as part of the new simplified collection plan. Residents may continue to use their 18-falling blue recycling bins if they prefer.
